William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum | Clinton Foundation 4 hours, 40 minutes ago January 20th marks the anniversary of President Bill Clinton’s first inauguration — a moment when America chose renewal, service and democratic leadership.
In 1993, President Clinton called Americans to service, unity, and stewardship of our democracy. He spoke honestly about hardship, but rejected division and cynicism, insisting instead that “there is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America.”
That vision stands in stark contrast to the state of our country today: deepening division, eroding trust in institutions, and a troubling lack of principled leadership when it is needed most. Where President Clinton urged shared responsibility and democratic renewal, we have too often seen a politics of grievance and exclusion that puts self-interest ahead of the public good.
We invite you to watch a short video from President Clinton’s inaugural address — a reminder of what values-driven leadership looks like.
At a moment when our democracy feels strained, these words are not just a reflection on the past — they are a challenge to demand better and to keep working toward the America we believe in.
We hope this video inspires you to continue defending democracy, serving your community, and working toward the country we know America can be.
