Ford delivered remarks to the nation, urging Americans to action:

Remembering the heritage of 200 years, let us ask what we must do to earn an honored place in the memories of the generations to come. Then, let us resolve that 1976 shall be the year that Americans reunite in the age-old commitment to liberty for ourselves and for the peoples all over the world.

Fifty years later, those words can still hold true. My wish is that 2026 is a year we answer President Ford’s call once again.
